Chocolate Cake in a Jar

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup of cocoa powder

  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 homemade chocolate cake mix

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 stick of softened butter

  • 1 and 1/4 cup of milk

  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Bring eggs, butter, and milk to room temperature.

  2. Pour cake mix into mixing bowl.

  3. Cut up butter, and mix into the cake mix.

  4. Beat eggs in a small bowl. Add vanilla.

  5. Mix egg mixture into the cake batter.

  6. Add milk, and mix just long enough to bring everything together.

  7. Butter and flour the cake pan(s).

  8. Pour the batter into the pans, and bake at 350 F; approximately 28 minutes for 8×8 or 9×9 cakes; 30 minutes for 13×9 cake. Your cake is fully baked when a toothpick is inserted into the center and comes out clean.

  9. Allow the cake(s) to cool for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pan.

  10. Allow the cake(s) to cool completely before frosting.
